Non-linear computer editing

Computer editing offers a number of advantages over tape-to-tape editing. Both video and audio are stored in digital form. They can be copied endlessly or used in effects such as "picture in picture" or "quad split" with no loss of quality. Program segments, or clips, can be edited to an accuracy of one thirtieth of a second. Theoretically, video effects can involve up to ninety-nine different video tracks simultaneously. In practice we use three to five on a regular basis. There is also room for up to ninety-nine stereo audio channels. Most of the time we use four: one for location wild sound, one for narration, and two for music and sound effects. Multi-lingual projects are no problem, either.

All video and audio clips and editing instructions used to make your program are stored on DVD-R or CD-ROM. If you ever need to make changes, we can have your project back on the computer and ready to edit before you can get to our office.
